Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a verification system, that is intended to stop the so-called e-mail spoofing where an email message is sent from one email address, but to look as being sent from a different, typically with the objective to fraud the recipient someway. When SPF protection is activated for a domain name, a specific record is created for it in the Domain Name System and all DNS servers around the world get it. The record contains all of the email servers that are permitted to send legitimate messages from an e-mail address part of the domain. When an email is sent, the first DNS server it goes to checks the SPF record and in case its sending server is permitted, the message is forwarded to the targeted receiver. In case, however, the sending server is not contained in the SPF record for the specified domain, the e-mail message won't be submitted and it will be discarded. When you employ this service, it will prevent third parties from sending spam e-mails that look as if they have been sent from you.
SPF Protection in Cloud Hosting
When you host your domains in a cloud hosting account with us and we handle the e-mail addresses for them, you are able to enable SPF protection for all of them with a few clicks in your Hepsia Control Panel. This service can be found in a separate section where you can see which domain names are currently protected. For the ones that are not, you'll be able to activate the SPF protection option and configure a lot of things during the process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are permitted to send messages from your mailboxes, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of the servers, and even to set a rule that messages can be sent only if your domain names include our MX records. The aforementioned option is the most secure one, but it can be used when we manage the emails for your domain names and you're not using another e-mail service provider. The newly generated records will propagate within 24 hours and nobody will be able to fake the FROM field in an e-mail by using your addresses.
SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers
The SPF protection attribute is available with all Linux semi-dedicated hosting plans, so when you host your domains in an account on our cloud website hosting platform, you will be able to use this particular service effortlessly for any of your domains. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is provided with the semi-dedicated accounts, has a really intuitive interface, which means that you do not have to be proficient in the use of computers in order to secure your e-mail addresses. You'll simply have to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you would like to be allowed to send out e-mails from your addresses and shortly after that the new record will be activated for the domain name that you've selected. As an additional option, we will also allow you to limit the outgoing email messages and secure your mailboxes even further by allowing messages to be sent only when the domain name in question features our MX records i.e. the emails for the domain name need to be managed on our end and not by another provider. By doing this you'll have even superior control and there will not be any chance for anybody to fake your emails for harmful objectives.
